E3 2019 Hands-on: The Riftbreaker

If there's one thing that attending multiple E3 and PAX West expos has taught me, it's that the Polish indie games scene is thriving. Over the past few years, both expos have had a booth dedicated to titles coming from a country that isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when one thinks about gaming (aside from CD Projekt Red, probably).

E3 2019 Hands-on: Fall Guys

Some studios are breaking the Battle Royale idea down to its most basic level...Developers Mediatonic are going their own way with the genre, applying these mechanics to something much different: a wacky game show.

Review: Judgment (PS4)

When something makes money, making more titles available to their audience only makes sense. Since Sega has been remaking and adding new entries to Kazuma Kiryu's story for modern consoles, players (including myself) were happy to see his gritty journey from low-ranking yakuza to makeshift father figure come to fruition midway through 2018.

E3 2019 Hands-on: The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan

In the chaotic and noisy environment of a gaming expo, it's not too often that you see a demo for a darker, narrative-heavy game. Titles that want to immerse the player are going to struggle to present themselves against a backdrop of flashy lights and loud music...although that's not to say that it is an impossible feat.

E3 2019 Hands-on: Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is an upcoming release that has my attention, despite some of the drama coming out of developer Gearbox. We were offered the chance to go hands-on with the latest demo build at this year's E3, alongside a run-down of some new information for the game.

Review: Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland

JRPGs can be a tricky thing for the casual gamer with a passing interest in them. More often than not, they expect the player to make a large time and effort commitment with varying degrees of narrative coherency. Not only that, certain character performances and designs might make the game in question better suited for solitary play depending on their own comfort level.

Review: World End Syndrome

I really shouldn't like visual novels. I have no idea why I do, looking back at many that I consider my favorites. For as much weight as I put on quality storytelling, the VNs I remember fondly don't seem like they would hold up.

Review: Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World

Boy, how time flies. The gaming industry has seen its fair share of IPs that have withstood the test of time with varying amounts of entries. Sure, you might think of the usual suspects in the ring such as Mario, Street Fighter, Sonic, and so on.

Review: Fate/Extella Link

As we grow as human beings, our tastes change. It's an inevitable fact of life. Like, you suddenly start enjoying slow-paced ambient music despite being a metalhead through most of your youth, or you decide that mushrooms are in face the perfect pizza topping even though you hated them growing up.

Review: The Caligula Effect: Overdose

A couple of years ago, Atlus published an ambitions little title for the Vita known as The Caligula Effect. Many compared it spiritually to the Persona series, which is no surprise, since the writer that penned the game's narrative, Tadashi Satomi, was also the mind behind the first two Persona games.

Review: Dead or Alive 6

The Dead or Alive franchise of fighting games is a series that markets itself on two things: fast and aggressive fighting and a splash of sex appeal. Apparently, pitting sexy well-endowed women and buff chiseled men against each other in brutal fisticuffs is a winning formula.

Review: JackQuest: The Tale of The Sword

I’ve played quite a few metroidvania games in my time, and in recent years we’ve been no stranger to spectacular indie productions of these titles. When another entry joins the fray, though, I’m more than happy to see it come.

Review: Necrosphere Deluxe

There's a group of gamers out there that believe games have become too streamlined, too simple... too easy. Those that miss the days when games were out to hand your ass to you, beat you 'til you're black and blue, and you enjoyed it, goddammit.

In a courageous attempt to stand out from the ritualistic linearity of other adventure games, Tokyo-based indie developers Friend & Foe have released a game that challenges players to find their own path through a strange world.

Review: Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition

A Decade in the Making The Tales series of games have become a somewhat staple JRPG franchise here in the west. The past few entries in the series have reliably made their way across the Pacific within a few months of their Japanese releases, and the games have begun releasing on PC as well, opening

Review: Yakuza Kiwami 2

Dueling Dragons Kazuma Kiryu has seen quite a bit of exposure over the last couple of years. Recently, we’ve seen the end of his story with the release of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. It’s honestly safe to say that this franchise has been experiencing a bit of a resurgence thanks to these solid

E3 2017 Quick-Look: Project CARS 2

If there’s one thing that you can look forward to every E3, it’s the consistently awesome offerings of Bandai-Namco. This year was no different. Among their demos was a fantastic racing setup for Project CARS 2.
