Final Fantasy XIV - Prep Tips for Patch 6.5 and 6.51

29 Sep 2023

Final Fantasy XIV’s Patch 6.5 is coming on October 3rd, so here’s a last minute guide to help you prep for the new content!

Catch Up on MSQ and Side Story Quests

On top of making sure you are caught up on the Main Story quest, there are a couple of side story quests that will impact the upcoming story. During an interview with Dengeki Online, Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida hinted that side stories, including the Eden Raid series and the Warring Triad series, would have an impact on the upcoming main story quest.

Collect Some Alliance Raid Coins

If you haven’t already started on Endwalker’s Alliance Raid series, The Chronicles of a New Era – Myths of the Realm, head to Old Sharlayan to get started on them! For those of us who already have, you may still have a reason to head back to Aglaia or Euphrosyne.

If you are interested in raising your Credendum gear by 10 iLvls, or if you want to dye your Credendum gear, make sure you at least have one of each of an Aglaia Coin and a Euphrosyne Coin. You will need one of each of those and a coin from the new Alliance raid to access one of the ways to earn gear augments for your Credendum gear.

Assemble a Squad to Farm the New Extreme Trial

Whether you’re just looking for a new challenge, trying to find a new shiny weapon, or trying to collect a new mount, Zeromus will be awaiting us in the new extreme trial. The fight has the chance to drop the seventh lynx of the Endwalker extreme mounts.

During a previous live letter, YoshiP gave us a preview of an in-the-works retro model Bahamut mount as the potential mount reward for collecting all the Endwalker extreme mounts.

Make Preparations for More Island Sanctuary Content

If you haven’t already been using the “burst” technique that the Overseas Casuals have recommended, avoid talking to your workshop mammet between now and when the new patch drops to accumulate the Island Sanctuary experience points after the level cap has increased! Also remember to turn off your automation for your leavings and crops to make sure you can get an experience benefit from those as well.

Finish Up Your Current PVP Series

Although the new PVP map will not be released until Patch 6.51 (later in October), the new PVP series will begin with Patch 6.5. This does mean you have until the Monday before the new patch to earn any rewards you may have not claimed yet in the current PVP series. If you need a reminder for how to check your current PVP series progress, go to your character menu, go to PVP profile, then go to series malmstones to check on your current progress.

Revisit The Minstrel’s Ballad: Thordan’s Reign

If you want to get a head start before tackling the Unreal Lvl 90 version of the Thordan extreme fight, you can head into The Minstrel’s Ballad: Thordan’s Reign to familiarize you and your party with the mechanics. Even if you cannot get a full party, letting some of the mechanics play out could give you some information for the the Faux Commander’s new challenge.

Look Forward to Further New Content in Patch 6.51

Later in October, Patch 6.51 will drop, which will include a new Crystalline Conflict arena, Aloalo Island – Variant and Criterion Dungeons, and new Splendorous Tools for your DoH and DoL equipment. If you want to head into the new Splendorous quests as prepared as possible, stockpile some white and purple gathering and crafting scrips as the patch approaches.

Above all else – have fun with the new content! We hope to see you all next week.
