Bad Ridge Games Announces New Adventure RPG Mirthwood
V Publishing announced their latest game in cooperation with the newly formed studio Bad Ridge Games: Mirthwood, a life sim adventure RPG set in a medieval world. Inspired by games like Fable, Stardew Valley, and Rimworld, Mirthwood is aiming high for this studio’s first title. V Publishing already has a number of games under their belt that show their expertise in this genre: Sanctuary Saga and Fallen Angel were both in the hands of the California-based publisher.
At the start of the game, players will create their own character and are directly thrown into a war-torn land they get to explore the way they want. The open-world system allows for a non-linear approach to the game. Players can choose to lead a life as an adventurer and fight monsters, clear out dungeons or ruins, or they can decide to make themselves a home, interact with NPCs, and even form relationships. Farming, animal husbandry, and trading are just some of the aspects Mirthwood has in store. In all this, the game is single-player only, but offers many ways of replaying the game from the start and choosing different paths throughout.
While the trailer above doesn’t show a release date yet, Bad Ridge Games is aiming for an early 2024 PC release. Ports to other consoles and systems haven’t been announced yet and may depend on the success of the initial release. You can wishlist the game on Steam right now and keep up to date with any announcements!
