After this segment, Yoshida showed off the new PvP map and its various features in an extended demo, followed by a first glance at the new Alliance Raid, Euphrosyne, and the new gear sets that can be acquired from it.

The break featured a piano version the Omega theme and the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XVI, of which Naoki Yoshida is the producer. The second half of the Live Letter continued with more gameplay demonstrations. Yoshida started out with a first teaser at the new Ultimate Raid “The Omega Protocol (Ultimate)” which will release two weeks after the new patch in 6.31 on January 24. Yoshida’s demo showed the intro cinematic and the rather small initial arena, as well as the party Portrait system and the beginning of the first mechanic.

The second gameplay demonstration was a longer look at the new 8 player Treasure Map dungeon, “The Shifting Gymnasion Agonon”, which will only be accessible from maps gathered and opened in Elpis. Apart from this area restriction, the treasure dungeon works the same as other versions of this roulette type map.

After showing off the new glamour that can be crafted from material looted from the Treasure Dungeon, the next showcase was the new Leap of Faith stage set in the Sylphlands.

Eureka Orthos

  • A dungeon whose architecture changes each time players enter to explore
  • Players must first complete the Main Scenario Quest “Endwalker” and progress to Floor 50 of the Palace of the Dead
  • Must be level 81 or above to enter
  • Entry available for groups of 1-4, no role restrictions (difficulty unaffected by party size)
  • Please view the Play Guide on the Lodestone for more details

How to Unlock:

  • Accept the quest from Koh Rabntah in Mor Dhona
  • With the addition of Eureka Orthos, previous quests associated with Koh Rabntah “But I Hardly Noah” and “The Gift of the Archmagus” will be removed

Yoshida then showed of the new Deep Dungeon, the first Floor 10 boss and some of the new Deep Dungeon specific items: a pommander that turned Yoshida’s character into a magitek and the Demiclone Generator, which summoned a clone of one of the NPCs from the Crystal Tower raid series. Finishing up the demonstrations, we got shown a new hairstyle, and a row of new mounts, minions, housing features and other ingame items before the last section of the Live Letter, the announcements and merchandiese portion, started.

Miscellaneous Updates, Announcements, and Merchandise

Square Enix will hold a New Year’s Mahjong Broadcast on January 9, 2023, at noon JST with Yoshida as one of the players. The new year will also see the ten-year anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and will feature as-of-yet unannounced events around the anniversary. Additionally, Japanese fans can now sign up for the Crystalline Conflict Community Cup which will be held in early February. International fans on the other hand can look forward to the release of the Blu-Ray disc for the Eorzean Symphony Vol. 3, set to release on April 26 in Japan and shortly after in the NA and EU stores. On top of that, both the NA and the EU Fan Festivals will feature their own Orchestra Concert one day after the Fan Fest in a different location. Further details for these will be announced at a later date on the Lodestone.

And on the topic of Fan Fests, the date and location for the Japanese Fan Festival was also confirmed for January 7-8, 2024 at the Tokyo Dome, which now completes the full set and gives us the dates of all three Fan Festivals for the upcoming 7.0 expansion.

Last but not least, Yoshida reminded players that the auto-demolition of houses will return with the release of Patch 6.3. Square Enix is also still hiring for a number of different positions and locations. And while the current Starlight Celebration seasonal event is still going on until December 31, 2022 at 6:59am (PST), the next event is already around the corner and the Heavensturn event is already announced.

As always, more information on the new Patch, including the full amount of the job changes will be posted in the Patch Notes prior to the patch going live. The customary Patch Notes Reading with Yoshida is scheduled for January 9, 10:00pm (PST). This would indicate that the maintenance for the upcoming patch is only a few hours.
