New Final Fantasy XVI Trailer "Ambition"

20 Oct 2022

Today, Square Enix dropped a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy XVI, titled “Ambition.” The trailer focuses on the major characters, the so-called Dominants, who have the power to summon Eikons.

In addition to the new trailer, the game’s website also saw an update, giving more information on two new characters: Dion Lesage, the Dominant of Bahamut, and Barnabas Tharmr, Odin’s Dominant.

The previous trailer, “Dominance” gave us an ending that consisted of eight different Eikons. Specifically, Phoenix, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Shiva, Odin, Bahamut, and Ifrit. If those are all that we can expect to see in FFXVI, then the full cast list should be revealed pretty soon. Of course, given the large pantheon of summons in the Final Fantasy series, it’s always possible that we could see even more make their appearance in the series’ upcoming installment.

In a statement Square Enix posted on Twitter, Producer Naoki Yoshida and Director Hiroshi Taki spoke about the continued development of the game, explained why this third trailer was more character focused, and also mentioned that a new wave of media interviews would be coming soon.

Final Fantasy XVI is set to release summer 2023 for PlayStation 5.
