Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Media Tour Overview

We recently had a chance to get hands-on with a preview build of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. As we have with previous FFXIV Media Tours, we’ve compiled a post detailing each job and the changes that they’ll see when the expansion goes live, as well as a look at several new areas and a brand new dungeon… Oh, and Stubble. We look at stubble.
If you want to be surprised by everything that Endwalker has in store when it officially launches on November 23, you should turn away now. Otherwise, read on for a whole bunch of new information!
Before we continue, Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida told attendees that it would mean a lot to him to include a message somewhere in our coverage that thanks health care workers, saying that it’s due to their efforts that the team has been able to continue development of the game. With the current pandemic, and it being difficult for people to gather, Yoshida-san is happy that people are so thankful that they’re able to meet up in-game during these times. He said that even if it’s just via the media tour, he wishes to express his thanks to them, saying “Don’t lose sight of hope as you work.”
Everyone here at Gamer Escape would like to echo Yoshida-sans message and give a heartfelt “thank you” to everyone working in health care during these trying times.
These following articles are based on play of an in-development build of Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, and content in the final version is subject to change.

Media Tour Presentation
Prior to our hands-on time we had a brief presentation. Yoshida-san revealed to us that in addition to passing 24 million players, Final Fantasy XIV is now the most profitable title in the series’ history. Going forward, he says that Square Enix is sparing no expense at its continued development and that they hope to make great strides in the next 10 years of service.
Endwalker is said to be bigger than a modern packaged RPG. Because of this, it is the largest FFXIV expansion to date. With the size of it, of course, it also has the most story quests to date. Yoshida-san hopes that people can enjoy it as if it were an RPG, saying how great the Trust system has been received with Shadowbringers. Going forward into Endwalker, the AI of the Trusts has been improved and we’ll see Trusts used more in Patch 6.1 onward. (Make sure to read our interview for more information on this.)
“Our aim is to show newer players the appeal of MMORPGs without the potential stress of party play. Ultimately, we believe players will discover the fun of teaming up with others.”
Development on Endwalker is “down to the wire”, with the team wanting to deliver the best experience that they can. Right now the team is focused on tying up the FFXIV story of the last 10 years, promising surprises, revelations and exciting answers to long asked questions. After 6.0, they will start a brand new story, and they hope that players will eagerly anticipate what lies ahead.
Special thanks to our Media Tour team:
