Animal Crossing: New Horizon's January Update And Sanrio Amiibo Cards Revealed
The Animal Crossing train is still going strong for Nintendo, who unveiled the game’s update slated for this month earlier today.
This month’s update will feature the inclusion of the Festivale holiday and its titular character, Pavé. Taking place on February 15th, Pavé will arrive to your island and turn your plaza into a carnival. In addition, colorful feathers will spawn all over; by catching and giving them to Pavé, he’ll do a dance and potentially give you a special reward depending on which feathers you bring.
This update will also include new Reactions for sale at Nook’s Cranny, Festivale-themed clothing available at Able Sisters, and new seasonal items at the Nook Stop in Residence Services through Nook Shopping including those for Valentine’s Day, Groundhog Day, Big Game Day, Korean New Year, Chinese New Year, and Setsubun.
Additionally, Nintendo also announced that the coveted Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack amiibo cards will be reprinted and released for the very first time outside of Japan. Originally released in November of 2016, the amiibo cards allowed Animal Crossing: New Leaf players to invite special Sanrio-themed villagers to Harvey’s campgrounds and buy furniture based off of characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Cinnamoroll. While the original cards still function in New Horizons, they only provide posters and not the villagers themselves, although Nintendo says they’ll unveil more information about the functionality of the cards later on.

The Sanrio Collaboration Pack amiibo cards will be available on March 26th for $5.99 exclusively at Target in the United States, with information about availability at retailers in other territories coming soon. The update itself will be released on January 28th.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently available on the Switch.
