Today, during the Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom gave players a new look at the upcoming entry in the series: Resident Evil Village.
The game takes place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard and sees the return of protagonist Ethan Winters, now in a snowy remote village, who has a dramatic encounter with series protagonist Chris Redfield.
Resident Evil Village seems to be borrowing quite a bit from Resident Evil 4. If the setting of a remote village and a castle wasn’t already giving a sense of familiarity, the game will also use an attaché case style inventory system, as well as feature a merchant character known as “The Duke”.
Also announced was Resident Evil Re:Verse, a four to six player deathmatch featuring iconic characters and locations. Re:Verse will come free with Resident Evil Village.
The game will release on May 7, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC (Steam). The PlayStation 4 version of the game can be upgraded to the digital PlayStation 5 version. Village will also support Smart Delivery for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
The game is available for preorder starting today. A PlayStation 5 demo, Maiden, is also available today.
