The Easter Egg Hidden in Marvel's Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Edition
With the launch of Marvel’s Avengers today, players around the globe are jumping into the campaign to reassmble the team after the events of A-Day.
I picked up the Earth’s Mightiest Edition myself, being a fan of the Marvel cinematic universe, and of Captain America in particular. I wasn’t about to pass up a chance at the beautiful statue that came with this edition.
However, upon closer inspection of everything in the box, I came across a fun easter egg for fans to discover.
Aside from a fun note on the back of the included group photo, the Black Widow belt buckle has something for everyone to decipher.
One might think this is some kind of code, but really what this is, is a reference to a comic book. Specifically, Tales of Suspense #93, which released in September of 1967.
The significance of this particular issue, is that it served as the introduction of AIMs leader, MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing). MODOK also serves as the main villain for Marvel’s Avengers.
Marvel’s Avengers launches today for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC (Steam) and Stadia. You can check out our newly launched Marvel’s Avengers wiki here.
