One of the Xbox Series X’s defining launch titles, the next installment in the Halo franchise has been delayed to next year according to a tweet the official Halo Twitter account made today.
Citing challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining the development team’s well-being, 343 Industries Studio Head Chris Lee mentioned that the shifted release date is to “ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game that meets our vision.”
Originally meant to ship this holiday as a Series X launch title, Halo Infinite also received criticism from the gaming community for not looking “next-gen” following its presentation at Microsoft’s Series X showcase last month, with community manager John Junyszek saying that 343 has “work to do.”
Halo Infinite will release on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X through retail and Xbox Game Pass.
