Today, Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida released a new Letter from the Producer. In it, he talks about the delays that the development team have been facing as a result of the current pandemic and the move to working from home. He also announced the planned release date for patch 5.3.

Final Fantasy XIV Patch 5.3 Reflections in Crystal is scheduled to release next month on Tuesday, August 11.

Moving forward, Yoshida-san stated that they should be able to return to their regular timing for patches now that their home-based work system has been established.

Though it cost us roughly two months, our primarily home-based work system is now securely established, and we plan to return to our regular release schedule of roughly every three and a half months after Patch 5.3.

This isn’t to say however, that the delay seen over these past two months will ever be negated. They won’t be rushing future patches in an attempt to “catch up” so that they can continue to ensure the high level of quality that players have come to expect from their updates.

…rather than think of this as a loss, I consider it a great accomplishment, as our staff can now work safely and efficiently both at home or at the office.

Yoshida-san then shared the above image and announced that there will be a Letter from the Producer LIVE on Wednesday, July 22.
