Final Fantasy XI’s “Minimal” May Update has Arrived

Final Fantasy XI’s May version update landed today, bringing with it resets to Records of Eminence objective progress, Ambuscade hallmarks and badges of gallantry as well as fixing an issue with synthesis.

A statement from Final Fantasy XI Producer Akihiko Matsui explains the small update:

Dear Adventurers,
Matsui here with some information on the May version update.

I hope that this message finds you and your loved ones in good health. We know that there are many of you who have been affected by the virus, and I would like to offer my best wishes to those who have been suffering, who are working to stop the spread, and for any others who have been impacted by this threat. I hope that we are able to return to normalcy soon.

As some of you may be aware, SQUARE ENIX places the highest priority on the health and safety of our customers, employees, and anyone who has dealings with the company, and have implemented telecommuting measures to continue providing unforgettable experiences to our players.
For FINAL FANATASY XI, this means that the development and operation teams are placing the highest priority on continuing to provide you with wonderful adventurers in Vana’diel from the safety of our homes. As such, the May Version Update contains the minimal amount of updates necessary while we continue to hone our telecommuting workflow.

As the 18th Vana’versary is close at hand, we had hoped to bring you a May version update complete with a new in-game anniversary event, but unfortunately we were unable to implement it for this version update. We hope to be able to bring the Vana’versary event to you in the near future.

Please remember that you and your loved ones’ health comes first, and we hope that FINAL FANTASY XI will help make a difficult time a little more bearable.

We’ll have to stay tuned for what the team has in store for the game’s 18th Vana’versary. Until then, players that are current unsubscribed from the game will be able to Return Home to Vana’diel from May 15-May 25.

Starting today, players can also start to work on this month’s special login campaign item: Adoulin Tomatoes.
