Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is the third game in the Dungeon Defenders franchise. More notably for fans however, it is only the second made by the original developers of the franchise, now organized as the new independent studio: Chromatic Games.

As a dungeon defense title, you do what you would expect: set up various fortifications in an effort to protect your crystals from an onslaught of onslaught of orcs, dark elves, goblins, and other, less identifiable, enemies.

But after setting up your fortifications, and the waves of enemies start coming, you cannot merely sit on the sidelines and cross your fingers hoping that they hold up. No, you enter the fray- running into the chaos and mashing buttons and destroying those in your path.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is out now on Steam Early Access, but at $39.99 this game is not for the bargain hunters. There’s a solid amount of content since the game launched, with 12 levels of play, and with a 4-player co-op mode, and 3 difficulty levels. For its 1.0 release, currently scheduled for Q2 2020, there will be more maps plus a version for the Nintendo Switch. The team is also looking to release on other consoles after that in Q3. If you liked the original Dungeon Defenders, and don’t mind the price point, you’re likely to enjoy this new entry.
