FFXIV Shadowbringers Guide: Eden’s Verse: Furor

Eden’s Verse: Furor is the second encounter of the second 8-man, normal raid content released with Patch 5.2 of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers. It’s available at level 80 by finishing the Main Scenario Quest Shadowbringers and unlocked by the quest Into the Firestorm. It can be completed via the duty finder with a minimum ilvl of 455 and rewards tokens of Golden Antiquity for each gear type, which can be turned in to Yahl Yal at (10.1-11.5) in The Canopy, Eulmore. Ghul Gul at (26.6-16.4) in Mord Souq, Ahm Araeng will also exchange tokens of Golden Antiquity for gear.

For the sake of your fellow players, please remember that this is new content (at the time of this publication). A little friendly explanation can go a long way. Similarly, don’t be afraid to take advice. You may learn something you didn’t know.

Raktapaksa

Phase 1 – Garuda

  • Ferostorm – Two indicators that looks sort of like blades of wind appear on opposing sides of Garuda. After the cast finishes, she’ll fire off 2 conal bursts in the direction of those blades that take up about a quarter of the arena each.
  • Superstorm – An arena-wide, unavoidable AoE.
  • Two, uncast, blue circles will spawn in, centered on players. Each will require at least two players to be inside the circle. If you have too few players, the player inside will die. Once the circle mechanic is completed, a small, circular ground AoE will drop where the circles once were.
  • A blue, pulsing circle will appear in the middle of the arena, indicating that players will be knocked back from it. Stand close to it to avoid being knocked into the fiery walls, or use a knock-back nullifier.
  • Two, uncast, blue circles requiring the indicated number of players to stack (repeat).
  • Storm of Fury – A large, circular AoE will form under Garuda. Simultaneously, 2 players will be tethered to her with blue tethers that need to be spread both away from one another and all other players. They fire off thin, conal AoEs toward their corresponding players.
  • Vacuum Slice – A linear AoE indicated by a translucent line of red on the ground. After the initial damage goes out, the space becomes a no-man’s land. Touching it is instant death and it cannot be dashed through.
  • Occluded Front – This places 6 feathers on the arena floor, 3 on either side of the no-man’s land. An AoE pushing both players and feathers in toward the rift will then appear. Make sure you’re not going to run into any feathers and preemptively explode them, or run into the death rift when you’re moved. Alternatively, use a knock-back nullifier. Remember to avoid getting too close the feathers, as well, as they explode on their own at the end of this mechanic.
Occluded Front.
  • After this, Garuda will flee the arena and Ifrit will take her place with a meteor-style, outward pulsing AoE. To minimize damage, move her to, (or keep her at), one side of the arena and run to the opposite when she leaves.

Phase 2 – Ifrit

  • Hands of Flame – Ifrit will tether to the player with second highest hate and charge them when the cast is over. The damage from the charge will hit other players, so avoid your friends. It will also apply a debuff called Lightheaded which will stun you if you take a similar tether again too soon. Off tanks will likely have to refrain from picking up tethers from the next mechanic:
  • Hands of Hell – This triple tether will target a random player and two other players must step in two both take two of the tethers away, and spread them out. Again, avoid your friends. This applies Lightheaded, as well.
Don’t kill your friends with tethers. He charges along them!
  • Instant Incineration – A tank buster.
  • Eruption – Four (?) familiar eruption circle will drop on the ground below random players. Stack up to save on space.
  • Strike Spark – Eight balls of fire appear spaced around the edge of the arena. You can ignore them until Ifrit moves to one ball and begins casting:
  • Hot Foot – Join Ifrit at his fire ball of choice and pack in tight. When this finishes casting, he will kick the ball to the center of the arena, leaving the only safe spot where you happen to be.

  • Inferno Howl – An arena-wide, unavoidable AoE.

Phase 3 – Garuda & Ifrit

  • Vacuum Slice
  • Eruption
  • Occluded Front
  • Hot Foot – Instead of calling up his own fire balls, Ifrit punts one of Garuda’s feathers to a new location. Adjust as necessary to avoid it when Occluded Front knocks you and the feathers inward.
  • Two, uncast, blue circles.
  • Hands of Hell
  • Ferostorm

Phase 4 – Raktapaksa

  • Raktapaksa will cover the floor in lava circles except for 3 safe spots spaced around the edge OR 1 safe spot near the center.
  • Ferostorm
  • Hands of Flame – This mechanic now includes all but a slice of the arena floor that line sup with the tether being covered in an AoE indicator.
  • Two, uncast, blue circles. These happen with Hands of Hell, but resolve before the group needs to move into the safe spot under Raktapaksa.
  • Hands of Hell – This also includes three instances of the AoE from Hands of Flame, leaving one safe spot under where ever Raktapaksa was when the tether cast finishes.
  • Eruption These happen along with the blue circles and Hands of Hell, but resolve before the group needs to move into the safe spot under Raktapaksa.

  • A blue, pulsing, knock-back circle in the center.
  • Conflag Strike – The cast begins.
  • Raktapaksa will cover the floor in lava circles except for 3 or 1 safe spots.
  • Eruption
  • Raktapaksa will cover the floor in lava circles except for 3 or 1 safe spots.
  • Eruption x2 – These happen in quick succession.
  • Conflag Strike – Just before the cast finishes, the boss projects an AoE that covers all but a quarter of the arena behind it.
  • Ferostorm*
  • Two, uncast, blue circles.
  • Storm of Fury
  • Eruption – In conjunction with Storm of Fury.
  • Inferno Howl
  • Hands of Hell
  • Eruption
  • Instant Incineration
  • Raktapaksa will cover the floor in lava circles except for 3 or 1 safe spots.
  • Inferno Howl
  • *Likely repeats from Ferostorm.
