Today, Square Enix announced that due to fears of the novel coronavirus, they will be scaling back a bit for next week’s PAX East activities.

Developers for titles including Final Fantasy XI, and Final Fantasy XIV, as well as other staff from Japan will not be traveling out for the event. The Final Fantasy XIV panel that was to be held during the event, will now be live streamed from Japan on Saturday, February 29 at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET on Twitch. Developer signings and photo opportunities have also been cancelled.

The Fan Gatherings that were planned for Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV have also been cancelled.

All of that however is not to say that Square Enix won’t have any presence at PAX East next week. They’re still planning to have a playable demo for Final Fantasy VII Remake, a signing session with the voice actors for Tifa, Barret, Aerith, Jessie and Biggs, a Ruby Weapon Battle Challenge, and a panel for Outriders (1:30 PM ET on Saturday in the Albatross Theatre).
