Gamer Escape Turns Ten!

4 Jun 2019

June 3, 2009:  “Welcome to Eorzeapedia.”

With those words ten years ago, we were off and running on what has become Gamer Escape. It was not our first rodeo as they say. The core of us had started sites dedicated to Final Fantasy XI (primarily FFXIclopedia and Pet Food Alpha) as far back as 2004. What can we say… we’re fans.

In the past 10 years we have come a long way. We changed our name, our website, our servers and hosting, and even a few people here and there. We jumped into Eorzea with the first round of Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 testing, watched it launch, watched it fail, and then joined the community with bated breath while it re-launched as A Realm Reborn. We started doing game reviews, added new wikis, and even got hacked by the Russians and lost some wikis. It’s been quite a ride – and we are are looking forward to seeing where the next decade takes us! Though, we’re hoping we can skip the whole Russian hacking thing this time around.

Over the past ten years at Gamer Escape, we’ve had:

  • 1 million+ wiki edits
  • 160,000+ wiki images
  • 91,000+ wiki articles
  • 4,000+ blog posts
  • 400+ game reviews
  • 130+ FFXIV Aetheryte Radio podcasts
  • Reached 331 episodes of FFXI Pet Food podcasts

Ten Year Anniversary Giveaway

To celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we’re going to do a giveaway! Thanks to our friends over at Square Enix, we’ll have an assortment of Final Fantasy XIV swag in the prize pool including a Collector’s Edition of the upcoming expansion! We also had a moment during our time at the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers media tour to have Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida sign a couple items for us that you’ll have a chance to win!

With our schedules being incredibly busy this month with E3 and Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers early access, we’re aiming to host this giveaway sometime in early July. Additionally, our Final Fantasy XIV podcast Aetheryte Radio will also be turning 10 years old this August! We’ll be giving away some of these items on Twitch as well when we hit that milestone, so make sure to keep an eye out for the details!

We’d like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to everyone that visits Gamer Escape, whether you’re coming to look up information on one of our wikis, looking for new reviews, or listening to our podcasts. We would not, and could not be here without the incredible support that you’ve provided us over these past ten years!
