The Game Developers Conference is happening right now in San Francisco, and with it comes new announcements and details of upcoming games. Today at the conference, Aksys Games premiered the first English trailer for a game that many (including myself) are greatly anticipating: Zero Time Dilemma. The writer and director of the game, Kotaro Uchikoshi, was present as well during the presentation.
Zero Time Dilemma is to be the third and final installment in the Zero Escape series, a set of games with a major cult following here in the West. In the trailer, we get our first taste of the English voice acting, along with glimpses of the already announced characters and setting in action.
This entry in the Zero Escape series will once again focus on nine people trapped in a game of death, orchestrated by a mysterious figure named Zero. The heroes and heroines of the previous two entries are set to be characters in this entry as well, although they will not be the player characters. Really, any other details beyond that venture into spoiler territory for the first two games, 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors and Virtues Last Reward. Uchikoshi has promised, though, that this game will wrap up all dangling plot threads from the previous two games and bring a definitive end to to the series.
The trailer also confirms the release date of Zero Time Dilemma: June 28th, 2016. The game will be released for both 3DS and Vita. Aksys also announced a Steam release for later in the year, but no specific date has been set.
