Nintendo President Satoru Iwata Dies At Age 55

It is with great sadness that we report that Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has passed away.

Nintendo has released the following statement:

Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.

Satoru Iwata became the president of Nintendo back in May 2002 after being a involved with HAL Laboratory (known for Kirby and Super Smash Bros.) for over twenty five years. Iwata helped bring the Nintendo DS and the Wii to the market, further changing the way that we play games.

Gamers of the past, present and future have all been impacted by the passion thatĀ Satoru Iwata had for the gaming industry. He will be greatly missed.
