CTO Yoshihisa Hashimoto Leaves Square Enix; Remi Driancourt Steps Up To The Plate

It was recently made known that Square Enix’s CTO, Yoshihisa Hashimoto, will be stepping down from his integral role at the Japanese developer. Citing personal reasons, according to the Japanese site Game Watch, he will be replaced by Senior Engineer Remi Driancourt who was lead programmer on Final Fantasy XIV.

In addition to his duties as CTO, Driancourt will also be heading the Advanced Technology Division and the Luminous Studio project, both started and overseen by Hashimoto. Hashimoto was also credited with the technical direction behind the successfully rebooted Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Hashimoto is stated to stay behind in an advisory role after his departure.
