Italian developer Untold Games has been hard at work on its first game, designed specifically for virtual reality equipment. Loading Human is an adventure game designed for the Oculus Rift and various motion controllers. The company just hit full funding on the game’s KickStarter with twelve days left to go at the time of writing. At the same time, Untold Games CEO Flavio Parenti released a video that goes in depth with the story of the game.

Loading Human‘s story takes place in the 22nd century, after humanity has invented interstellar travel. The creator of the engine that enabled this, Dorian Baarick, is 172 years old and does not want to die. He’s been able to slow down his aging with another invention of his, the Lazarus, but it is no longer working. The game begins here with the player taking control of Dorian’s son, Prometheus. He is tasked by his father to find the “Quintessence,” an energy source that will allow Dorian to power up the Lazarus and continue to live on.

The video continues further into the story, but a few comments on the video claim that it begins touching on what seems like spoiler territory. The video is linked below, but watch at your own discretion.

Loading Human is intended to be a three-chapter story, with the current KickStarter funding the first chapter. The developers intend to release it for Windows and Mac alongside the consumer release of the Oculus Rift, expected to be in the first quarter of 2015.
