Nostalgic gaming has become quite popular as of late. Gaming arguably became an acknowledged hobby and media form in the 1990s, and many that grew up with games in their lives at this time are hitting their 20s and 30s now. As we begin to grow older, start families of our own, and so on with the cliches, many of us look back fondly on the games we grew up with as children. It’s not too often I get blindsided with something nostalgic, as I like to think I have a pretty good memory. However, an announcement made just yesterday came up as a complete surprise and brought back memories of when I was still an elementary school kid.
As of April 17th, Night Dive Studios and Tommo Inc. are releasing classic games from Humongous Entertainment on Steam. If the company name doesn’t strike you familiar, the games they made might. Humongous Entertainment’s back repertoire of games focused on children and family, and included series such as Putt-Putt, Freddi Fish, Pajama Sam, and SPY Fox.
The two studios are releasing a large selection of these games, originally published between 1992 and 2003. The games are scheduled to be rolled out on to Steam at a rate of five or six every two weeks, from April 17th to June 6th. The full schedule of releases can be found on Humongous Entertainment’s website. If you have the same fond memories from your childhood of these games that I do, this is the perfect chance to relive those memories. Perhaps you can even introduce them to your own children!
