Konami, the makers of ‘Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes’ announced today that the official release date for the new Metal Gear Solid is set to be March 18th, 2014. This is not to be confused with ‘Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain’ which is yet another Metal Gear Solid game set for release fairly soon. The two Metal Gear Solid games are sold as separate games but are meant to be viewed as one cohesive game with an overarching plot and similar gameplay. Ground Zeroes serves as an immediate prequel to Phantom Pain.

The release date announcement comes at the end of the new trailer for the Xbox exclusive bonus mission ‘Jamais Vu’, and it is presumably the release date for  PS3, Xbox 360, PS4 and Xbox One.

It was also announced that the bonus mission ‘Jamais Vu’ will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of MGSV:GZ and features Raiden, who is also subject to the Xbox monopoly. In contrast, the PlayStation units get a crack at a different bonus mission – ‘Deja Vu’, which will feature a retro version of Solid Snake. The two bonus missions have quite a few differences in design and story, however, according to Konami they are designed to run counterpart to each other.
