It may seem like a while since the last time you heard any sort of update regarding the launch of Naughty Dog’s anticipated 2013 blockbuster, The Last of Us.

Recently at the VGAs Sony launched a new trailer and confirmed the title’s release date in North America and Europe: May 7th, 2013. The Last of Us, is a new title from developer Naughty Dog, creator of the Uncharted and Jak and Daxter franchises. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, The Last of Us casts us as primary protagonist Joel, who is attempting to get a girl named Ellie across the United States. With many obstacles in their way; mass destruction, zombie-like monsters and looters alike, the storyline looks rather promising, in an I am Legend type way.

New DLC for Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 is landing later today which introduces a new co-op adventure staring Zoran Lazarevic, Eddy Raja and Harry Flynn. The story explores the mystery surrounding the Janus statue that players might remember from the co-op levels available in the game when it launched.

But wait, there’s more! Also landing today are Rogues Skin Pack 1 and 2 and of course, the ever so lovely Doughnut Skin Pack. Most excellent!

We’ve also got news of Flashback Map Pack 2 landing February 21st which will contain the Plaza, Temple, Train Wreck and Village maps with brand new lighting, and other new effects.

New Uncharted 3 DLC Drops Today!

If you’re like me (awesome) then you’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of new DLC for Uncharted 3 ever since our last batch which included some Killzone 3 gear as well as a teaser about upcoming DLC. Of course those maps won’t be upcoming for long since they’ll be released today.

Four maps will become available today including Cave, Fort, Lost City and Santuary. Each of these maps have all new textures and weather effects and they include dynamic new lighting effects that were reworked from scratch.

In addition to this, it’s been confirmed that Naughty Dog will be adding even more DLC packs which will increase the value saved by Fortune Club members up to 60% if they were to buy the DLC separately.

Finally, we’re given a taste of future DLC content that includes Rogues Pack 1 and 2, and quite possibly the best character skin DLC to date: Donut Pack 1. And we’re also given the above image. Looks like we might be seeing additional co-op maps in the future as well!

This past week at E3, myself and Ganiman got a chance to wait in line for 40 minutes and get our hands on a multiplayer demo of the upcoming Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

We jumped into one of the game’s new multiplayer modes- 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 (or Three Team Deathmatch) in the Chateau level. Everything that player’s have come to expect from the Uncharted series remains in tact in this new installment. The game play feels exactly the same so everyone will feel at home when jumping online to “pwn some noobs”. There really isn’t too much to say here, I noticed at least one new weapon, we killed people, and then I won the match by literally kicking Ganiman in the ass.

The PlayStation Blog has posted a video interview with developers from Naughty Dog discussing the multiplayer aspects of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. The changes to multiplayer include a wide variety of player customization options (which can be unlocked by collecting treasure randomly dropped from your foes) as well as power plays that analyze the score difference between teams and makes adjustments to the game on the fly. One example given is “marked man” which marks a player on a team and awards more points for killing them. Another great addition is splitscreen multiplayer. This is made even better with the ability to use dual PSN logins.

The Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta begins on June 28th for PlayStation Plus subscribers and for those who buy specially marked copies of inFAMOUS 2. Everyone else will get access on July 5th. Uncharted 3 is currently scheduled for release on November 1st of this year.
