It hasn’t even been a month since E3, where Deep Silver premiered a quite frankly brilliant new trailer for Dead Island 2 and yet we already have another Dead Island related announcement! Today, the folks behind the open-world, Island-based, first person zombie smashing game have announced yet another title: ESCAPE Dead Island.

In ESCAPE Dead Island, players will get to experience the Banoi archipelago in the third-person (natively – no it’s not some bug) over the shoulder of a man named Cliff Calo, the spoiled son of a fictional Rupert Murdoch, he steals his father’s boat with a bunch of friends – intent on exposing the happenings on Banoi from the previous game. Intended to branch the gap between Dead Island and Dead Island 2, the game will also expand on the Dead Island universe and unravel the mystery of the zombie outbreak.

The game also features a refreshing update on visual style and gameplay. Combat takes a more central role and the cartoon-y graphics and bright colors changes the tone of the Dead Island series – much in the same vein as Dead Island 2 – which you can get a sense of in the launch trailer below.

The game is set for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 – which I find an odd choice now that the next-gen consoles are already out there. While no release date has been announced yet, we’ll hear more about it in the weeks to come. Stay tuned!
