Wiil U Be Picking Up Nintendo's Latest Console On Launch Day?

In just two days, Nintendo’s Wii U will be available for the gaming masses (or gaming few depending on availability).

I can still remember waiting outside of a local Walmart at 5:00am the day the Wii came out. Lucky for me, it decided to snow for the first time that year. The management came outside, hoping to help clear the line of anybody that wouldn’t be acquiring one of these new game machines. “We have twenty of them, we’re going to go down the line, if you want one let us know, only one per person.” Oddly enough, there were exactly that many people in line that were looking to purchase the system.

The manager came back out a few minutes later to give us tickets to exchange for the console at the register. When he got to the last woman in line, he found himself without a ticket to give her.

Nothing will make you re-consider how important the launch of a game console is, or the decision to “camp out” quite like two women having a vulgar shout match at each other with their children present in front of a Walmart at 5:45am while it’s snowing and everyone else is freezing their ass off.

Do I want a Wii U? I didn’t get much use out of the first, however there were some exclusives for the system that I greatly enjoyed. So yes, I want a Wii U. Am I going to stand in a line at the crack dawn in order to get one? After my previous experience? No way. I promised myself that if I could get a pre-order in somewhere then I’d be more than happy to go pick it up on launch day. If not, I wasn’t going to lose my sanity trying to acquire one.

Luckily I was able to get a pre-order in and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with the new console next week. But what about the rest of you? Are you excited for the Wii U? Are you going to get one right away? Drop us a comment and let us know!
