The Beautiful End Of The World And Other Pretty Things

Every so often we see things within the FINAL FANTASY XIV community that are so impressive that we feel the need to tell everyone about it. Such is the case today with some simply beautiful doctored screenshots that were created by Kodama. They take some already great looking images from the game and through the magic of Photoshop and After Effects, turn them into some fantastic images that I’m sure at least one of you out there will set as your wallpaper because of this post.

You can check out Kodama’s blog here and their flickr channel here.

We’ve thrown up a few of our favorites after the jump along with some translations of the captions written by Kodama.

The Mysterious Man Made Object

The Mysterious Man Made Object

I found this deep in the Black Shroud. It’s weathered and covered by moss, so at first glance you wouldn’t realize that it’s there, but if you look at it carefully, it’s definitely man-made. What could this object be? Is it a part of some sort? Or is it something that can move on its own? Based on the shape, it seems like perhaps it’s something that the Empire made. Perhaps a form of transportation that crashed?

Ironically, with the morning sunlight hitting it, it looks very mystical. Did you happen to see that there is a Sylph in the picture? I wonder what this looks like to them? However, lately the Empire has become more active and the situation continues to be precarious. If they were to bring something dangerous like this mysterious machine, could we truly fight against it? To be honest, I’m not confident we could. We also have Dalamud to worry about so I wonder what kind of future lays in store for us. I’m very worried.

The Place Of My Memories

The Place Of My Memories

A friend asked me to take a picture of them in the world before it met its end. They like Limsa Lominsa the best so we took it outside of the city.

(You can also find details about the process involved in making this image on Kodama’s blog.)

The End: Mor Dhona

The End: Mor Dhona

Up until now, this thing in the sky has only caused me to feel confusion and despair. However, this time, as I passed them by, I felt a very refreshing feeling come over me. Could it be that I’ve finally gone crazy?

However, it’s beautiful. It appears that the silhouette of the dragon and the airship are greeting the end of the world.  It feels as if this is the way the world should end. Or perhaps it has ended already?

When I see this disparaging scene before me, I almost feel as if it’s OK to die.

However, when I return to town and find my way through the crowds of perplexed people, I return to my senses.

Thank you very much to Kodama for allowing us to post these pictures on Gamer Escape and share them with our readers.  Kodama is also involved with the “Eorzean Preservation Society” which encourages players to get out there and take pictures of Eorzea before the coming of A Realm Reborn.
